about

Jordan - When we crossed the border it was good to finally be back home. It's funny that we called it home when we crossed the border into Maine, a state that 2/3 of us had never been to before. But the specifics didn't matter. There was something about being back that let us stop thinking so hard about the gruesome details of the week that had passed and just relax. Of course letting our guard down that day really didn't help when our journey back to the states turned into a 15-hour drive, but that's another story for another time. For that brief time in Maine, we just let the weight drop. Maybe that's a good thing, maybe that's a bad thing. I still haven't felt recovered enough to revisit it too thoroughly.

Heath - I approached Isaac before Halloween about using this piano loop from the movie, "Casper." I had the idea for a song called "Can I Keep You" which basically is about this ghost falling in love with a real girl. Its one of my favorite movies, and I had always wanted to sample it. Isaac made a great track out of it, and then it occurred to me that the town Casper died in was called Friendship, Maine. The first state we crossed into upon entering America again was Maine. So I felt it came full circle to be there before Halloween in this state that holds a lot of significance for a huge move nerd and eternal optimist like me. Being dead and still thinking you have a shot with someone...that's hope. Being in the position we are in and believing great success will come from it...equally hopeful. So this song is just an abstraction of those thoughts for me. Just combining the innocent melancholy of the movie with the reality of my own life. I love the way it turned out.
